Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about hosting with HostPowr — where your data sits, what you pay at renewal, and who picks up a ticket at 3am.
How do you get started with HostPowr?
Signing up, moving an existing site across, and what happens in the first week.
Shared and WordPress accounts are provisioned within minutes of payment clearing, and you can upload files or run a one-click install straight away. A VPS is usually ready in the same timeframe unless you have asked for a custom image. The slow part is almost always DNS propagation, which takes one to twenty-four hours and is outside anyone's control.
Yes, on every plan, with no setup fee. Send us the login for your current host or a cPanel backup. Our engineers copy files, databases and mailboxes, stand the site up on a staging URL, and only switch DNS once you have confirmed it works. Most migrations finish inside one business day.
No. You can point a domain registered anywhere at our nameservers, and hosting works exactly the same. Registering with us puts the domain, DNS, SSL and mail records in one control panel, and annual hosting terms include a free domain for the first year.
Shared hosting at €6 a month handles most content and brochure sites up to roughly 10,000 visits. Choose managed WordPress at €7 if the site is WordPress and you would rather not maintain it. Choose a VPS from €19 if you need root access or a specific runtime. You can move up later without rebuilding.
Hosting plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. Domains are excluded because registration fees go to the registry and cannot be recovered. VPS and dedicated capacity is assessed case by case, since the hardware is provisioned specifically for you.
How does pricing and billing work?
What you pay, what changes at renewal, and how the discounts work.
No. The rate you agree for a term is the rate that term renews at. There is no introductory price that resets in year two. We may change list prices for new customers, but an existing plan does not silently reprice, and any change would be notified in advance rather than appearing on an invoice.
Ten per cent for one year, fifteen for two and twenty for three. VPS and n8n plans sell up to two years, so they cap at fifteen. The discount applies to the whole term and to that term's renewal — it is a commitment discount, not a first-year promotion.
Excluding VAT. Belgian and EU consumers see VAT added at checkout at the applicable rate. EU businesses with a valid VAT number can apply the reverse charge, which removes it. The checkout shows the final figure before you confirm.
Yes, on every plan, at the standard rate with no commitment and no cancellation fee. The longer-term discounts are optional. Paying monthly costs more per month, but nothing is locked and you can leave at the end of any cycle.
No setup fee on any product, ever. SSL certificates, daily backups on hosting plans, and architect-led migration are included rather than sold as add-ons. Bandwidth is included in the plan allowance, so there is no per-gigabyte egress charge.
Where is our data stored, and is it GDPR compliant?
The questions procurement teams and auditors ask, answered without hedging.
On hardware HostPowr owns, in Tier-III data centres in Belgium and Finland. Files, databases, mailboxes and backups are stored in the EU and are never replicated to another region. Where it is stored is not a setting you can change, because there is nowhere else for it to go. Who can reach it is a separate question, answered below.
The servers, storage and network are ours, in the EU, and there are no US subprocessors in the hosting path. Administration is worth stating plainly rather than leaving to the small print: part of our engineering team works outside the EEA and can reach production systems to provide support. Under GDPR that is a restricted transfer, so it runs under Standard Contractual Clauses and is named in the Data Processing Agreement alongside every other subprocessor.
The Article 28 DPA applies automatically to every account as part of our terms, so there is nothing to countersign before you start. If your procurement process needs a signed copy on your own paper, contact us and we will execute one.
No, and any host telling you otherwise is overselling. EU hosting settles where your data lives and gives you a processor bound by an Article 28 DPA. Your consent flows, cookie handling, privacy notice, retention periods and lawful basis remain yours to get right.
Yes to both, at any time. We provide full backups on request and delete account data on termination in line with the DPA's retention terms. Domain authorisation codes are released the same day you ask, without a fee or a retention call.
What does the infrastructure actually run on?
Hardware, software versions, limits and the things developers ask before committing.
AMD EPYC processors with enterprise NVMe SSD storage, in Tier-III facilities with redundant power and network. Shared and WordPress plans add LiteSpeed with Varnish, Redis and Memcached caching at server level. VPS instances use KVM virtualisation, so allocated CPU and memory are genuinely reserved rather than shared from a pool.
PHP 5.6 through 8.x, switchable per site, so a legacy application keeps running while you migrate it. cPanel ships on shared, WordPress and reseller plans, with WHM on reseller tiers. On a VPS you have root and can install cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, CloudPanel or nothing at all.
99.9% per calendar month, backed by a published SLA. If monthly uptime falls below that through our fault, you can request a service credit. Every node is monitored around the clock by our own team rather than an outsourced NOC.
Hosting plans include unmetered bandwidth for normal website use. VPS tiers carry a transfer allowance from 4 TB to 32 TB, which ordinary application traffic sits well inside. There is no per-gigabyte egress fee — the charge that makes hyperscaler bills unpredictable.
Free daily backups on hosting plans with multiple restore points, recoverable yourself through cPanel without opening a ticket. VPS tiers from €34 include snapshots for rollback before a risky deploy. Keep an independent copy elsewhere as well — a backup living only on the same platform as the original is one incident away from being no backup.
What support do you actually get?
Who answers, how fast, and in which language.
Within two hours, around the clock. Incidents affecting a live service are picked up faster and escalate straight to the infrastructure team. Pre-sales questions are answered within one business day. Higher tiers route to priority queues, but every plan reaches the same team.
An engineer with access to the server involved. There is no tiered call centre reading from a script, which is a consequence of team size rather than a policy. It also means the first reply is usually the useful one, instead of three exchanges establishing that you have already cleared your cache.
Yes. Support operates in English, Dutch and French, and the site and client portal are fully translated in all three. You will not be answered in English because the Dutch queue happens to be unstaffed that day.
Included on every plan at every price point. There is no paid support tier gating access to a competent human — the €6 shared plan and the €99 VPS reach the same engineers. What differs at higher tiers is queue priority, not whether anyone answers.
Open a ticket immediately. We can isolate the account to stop it affecting others, provide scan results identifying the compromised files, and restore from a clean backup point. Cleaning your own application code remains yours, but we will tell you exactly what we found.
