Backup Policy & Disclaimer
This Backup Policy explains how backups work on HostPowr services and clarifies your responsibilities for protecting your own data. By using our services, you acknowledge and agree to this policy. It forms part of the HostPowr Terms of Service.
Please read this carefully — understanding it now prevents data loss later.
1. Your Data Is Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for maintaining your own independent, up-to-date backups of all data, files, databases, emails, and content stored on your account. HostPowr is not responsible for any loss of data under any circumstances.
We strongly recommend you keep your own off-site backups at all times, independent of our systems.
2. Courtesy Backups
- 2.1 Where backups are provided as part of your plan, they are offered as a courtesy and convenience only — not as a guaranteed service.
- 2.2 Courtesy backups are provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee their frequency, completeness, availability, or recoverability.
- 2.3 We may modify, limit, or discontinue courtesy backups at any time without notice.
- 2.4 Courtesy backups are intended for server-level disaster recovery, not as a substitute for your own backups.
3. No Guarantee of Recovery
- 3.1 We do not guarantee that any backup will be available, complete, or restorable at the time you need it.
- 3.2 Backup restoration is provided where possible but is not guaranteed. Restores may be subject to availability and, in some cases, a service fee.
- 3.3 We are not liable for any data that is missing, corrupted, outdated, or unrecoverable from a backup.
4. Backup Exclusions & Limits
- 4.1 Accounts exceeding certain size or resource limits may be excluded from courtesy backups. Where this applies, it is your responsibility to maintain your own backups.
- 4.2 Backups may not include certain file types, large databases, or external/third-party data.
- 4.3 We may set retention periods after which older backups are automatically deleted.
5. Account Termination & Data Deletion
- 5.1 Upon cancellation, suspension for non-payment, or termination for any reason, your data and any associated backups may be permanently deleted.
- 5.2 We are under no obligation to retain or provide data after an account ends.
- 5.3 It is your responsibility to download and secure your data before your account is cancelled or expires.
6. Data Loss Events
We are not liable for data loss resulting from, including but not limited to:
- Hardware failure, server crashes, or storage corruption
- Software bugs, updates, or configuration errors
- Hacking, malware, or security breaches of your account or applications
- Your own actions, deletions, scripts, or third-party software
- Outdated or vulnerable applications, themes, or plugins
- Force majeure events outside our reasonable control
- Migration, suspension, or termination of services
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HostPowr's total liability for any data loss is limited as set out in our Terms of Service. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses, including loss of business, revenue, or data, arising from data loss or backup failure.
8. Our Recommendation
We take reasonable measures to protect infrastructure, but no hosting provider can guarantee against all data loss. To protect yourself:
- Keep regular off-site backups of your website and databases
- Use a backup plugin or external backup service for critical sites
- Download local copies of important files and emails
- Never rely on a single copy of any important data
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Backup Policy at any time. The current version applies to your ongoing use of our services.
