Cookie Policy
This policy lists every cookie and browser storage key this website sets, by name. Most cookie policies describe categories instead, which cannot be checked against the site; you can check this one with your browser's developer tools. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
1. What we do not do
- No advertising or marketing cookies.
- No cross-site behavioural tracking, retargeting or advertising pixels.
- No social media tracking scripts.
- No cookies at all from analytics or any third party before you consent. Not a reduced set — none.
2. How consent works here
Nothing optional loads until you accept. Google Analytics is not requested, downloaded or initialised while consent is absent, so the usual pattern of loading a tracker in a blocked state does not apply.
We use Google Consent Mode with every signal denied by default. Accepting grants analytics storage only. Advertising signals — ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation — stay denied permanently, because this banner does not ask about advertising and we will not infer consent that was never given.
Withdrawing consent stops collection rather than just stopping future loads: the consent signal is revoked immediately and the analytics identifiers are cleared.
3. The full list
3.1 Strictly necessary — set without consent, because the site cannot work without them. None identify you or leave your browser.
- hp_cookie_consent (local storage, persistent) — records your consent choice. Removing it makes the banner ask again.
- NEXT_LOCALE (cookie, 1 year) — remembers whether you chose English, Dutch or French.
3.2 Functional — preferences and short-lived caches. Set without consent under the ePrivacy exemption for a service you explicitly requested, and never used to identify you.
- hp_currency (cookie, 1 year) and hp:currency (local storage) — the display currency you selected.
- hp:exchange-rates and hp:exchange-rates-ts (local storage) — cached conversion rates and their timestamp, so prices do not refetch on every page.
- hp:pricing:* (session storage) — plan and price data cached for the tab, cleared when you close it.
- hp_announcement_dismissed (session storage) — remembers that you closed the announcement bar, so it stays closed for the visit.
3.3 Analytics — set only after you accept, and not before.
- _ga (cookie, 2 years) and _ga_<measurement-id> (cookie, 2 years) — Google Analytics 4. Distinguish visitors and sessions so we can count unique visits and see which pages are used.
4. Third parties
Google Analytics is the only third party that sets a cookie on this site, and only with your consent. Our client portal and checkout run on a separate domain and may set their own cookies necessary to keep a payment session secure; those are governed by the policies shown at the point of payment.
Some pages call third-party services without setting cookies — currency rates, WHOIS lookups, uptime data for the status page. These are listed in section 10 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Changing your mind
- Use the cookie banner to change your choice at any time. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, as the GDPR requires.
- Clearing site data in your browser removes every key listed above, including your consent record.
- Your browser settings can block cookies entirely. The site still works; currency and language will simply forget your preferences between visits.
6. Changes
This list is maintained alongside the code, so it changes when the site does. Material changes — a new third-party cookie, a new analytics provider — are announced before they take effect, not after.
